Lessons 1 is a small, family-owned and operated tutoring and teaching centre. We offer tuition in most CSEC/CXC subjects and some CAPE subjects as well as SAT preparatory classes (active link) and classes for Standards 4 and 5 (active link). We are committed to providing all of our students with a high quality of education at an affordable cost. We foster a collaborative environment between students and teachers characterized by mutual respect and kindness.
Our classrooms are arranged seminar-style. Our classes are small, typically numbering no more than 12 students which ensures that every student gets the attention and help that he or she needs and feel comfortable enough to ask questions and contribute. Our teachers emphasize practical learning in the classroom – every theoretical concept is followed by practical application in the form of oral and/or written exercises and past paper questions. We believe that practice and application are central to mastering the material; therefore, every week, a student must complete a home-work assignment.
We have been tutoring for the past 12 years, and have existed as Lessons 1 for the past 6. In that space of time we have had the opportunity and privilege to work with thousands of students and help them on their way to achieving their larger goals, whether that goal was Grade Is and Distinctions or a Full Certificate or a Medical career or entry into a local or foreign university.
